Introduction to Electric Screwdrivers

Repeatability is Quality!

Repeatability: When you've got it, it can make a winner out of your product in today's quality-conscious marketplace.
Repeatability: When you don't have it, it's what makes returns, re-works and scrap out of your product.
Repeatability: It's what you need to guarantee each and every one of the fasteners in your product is torqued properly.

The Secret to Precise Torque Repeatability: The Driver Stops ItseIf

ASG drivers give you repeatability. Over and under-tightening is eliminated for critical assembly work because our drivers have precision torque control. Our drivers are "smart"...their precision clutches automatically stop rotation the instant a pre-set torque is reached.

And When You Really Do Need To Vary the Torque... Adjustments Are Easy

Tools are externally adjusted by a simple twist of the torque nut. If tamper-proof torque is required, a locking mechanism can be provided to prevent the operator from changing a pre-set torque. A high/low switch on the power supply allows the operator to make a quick reduction in the driver's RPMs for critical plastic assemblies.

They're Clean... Really Clean.

ASG tools are ideal for clean room assembly. When converted to clean room, all CL, SS and Alpha series tools are appropriate for Class 100 environments.

A Word About Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (Good News!)

More accurately known as Cumulative Trauma Disorder, carpal tunnel syndrome is a well-known condition in assembly operations where power tools are used. It is usually caused by repetitive job activties or repetitive wrist movements which tend to overextend the lower arm or wrist. Another common example of Cumulative Trauma Disorder is tenosynovitis. Both tenosynovitis and carpal tunnel syndrome are extremely painful to the assembly operator and hold the potential for serious worker injury.
But there is good news.
ASG tools use a very rapid, almost instantaneous braking system. This system prevents the overextension of the lower arm and wrist, the most common causes of cumulative trauma. To learn more about the prevention of cumulative trauma and how ASG tools can help, call our Technical Sales Department at (216) 486-6163.

Low Noise Levels

And there's more good news. ASG drivers are also very quiet. At only 55 decibels (typically), ASG tools are ideally suited for "office type" assembly operations. When you add it up: flexible, quiet, light weight, and clean, you can see that your operators will enjoy using low-fatigue ASG tools.

Safe, Simple & Require None of the Support Equipment That Air Tools Need

Best of all, ASG tools are simple. They are easy to move from one location to another as assembly requirements change. Just unplug ASG tools and move them to where the assembly requirement is. There is no plumbing to change, no expensive changes to the assembly line, etc. Plus you won't have any expensive air tool maintenance problems.

The CL, SS and Alpha Series tools are powered by low voltage DC motors. Transformers and control boxes are away from the driver...so there's no high voltage present in either the tool or its power cord. VZ tools are the latest in convenience and simplicity. The VZ drivers plug directly into any 110 VAC outlet. AC power is converted to DC via a built-in converter. The VZ tools feature a new ergonomic design intended to create the lowest possible operator fatigue.

"Who's ASG, and What Do They Know About Screwdrivers?"

ASG is a division of Jergens, Inc., a fifty-five year old manufacturer of tooling components for the manufacturing industry. ASG has been supplying controlled-torque drivers to the assembly industry since 1975. We have sold more controlled-torque assembly equipment than any other company in the U.S.
